GAB7 - 92"L Cedar Gable (XLarge)

FlowerWindowBoxes.com is a custom cedar and PVC architectural millworks company that custom fabricates, designs, and manufactures decorative cedar gable arches and wooden gable end brackets. Our wood truss gable decorations are made from heavy duty solid red western cedar timbers. These large gable pediments and gable accents come in a variety of pitches to match the angle of any roof (see below). Each wooden gable beam is hand built by our craftsmen.

All of our cedar brackets, cedar corbels, cedar gable brackets, cedar braces, and cedar rafter tails are made from solid wood Red Western Cedar and available in both Rough or Smooth form.

“Due to the fact that Red western cedar comes in many color variations from reddish white to reddish browns your brackets and corbels may have beautiful color variations that differ from one product to the next. By looking at all of our products online you will get a good idea of some of those different color variations.”

On the gable-7 design 4x4 mounting boards come standard and are pictured as the beams filling out the triangular shape around the perimeter. These can assist in mounting the gable into the roof structure.

Painting, Staining, and Sealing Recommendations:

All product comes as unfinished red western cedar and will need to be painted, stained, or sealed by the customer. It is recommended to seal product as soon as you get it. For painting, we recommend an oil based primer and paint rather than a latex paint. Staining or sealing helps the cedar maintain or keep its luster for longer and prevents micro cracks (cosmetic only) from developing in the large timbers over time.

Sizing Tip:
Determining size can sometimes be a challenge. One tip you can do is to cut a 2x4 stud at either 48", 66", 78", or 92" and to have a handyman carry the stud up and hold it horizontally in the gable roof line. This can help simulate where the bottom beam is gonna lay if you order the corresponding gable. Take a picture of what it looks like from the street and usually this helps a lot. Sometimes there is a window under the gable which you can measure and use as a reference point. For example if there is a 60" window under the gable you can step back and look at it from the street and use the window as a guide as to how long a 66" gable might be. Most customers order 66" and 78" gables for their homes, however a 92" gable makes for a larger statement piece and we can also custom make gables up to 14' feet long. The bigger the space under the roofline, the bigger you may wish to get the gable to fill that space. A 48" gable is usually only recommended for small homes, small rooflines, and sheds.

How to Determine Pitch of Roof?

The exact pitch or angle of your roof must be known prior to placing an order for one of our gables. Steeper roofs have higher pitches and more shallow rooflines have lower pitches. To measure the pitch of your roof you can read our how to article on 5 ways to measure the pitch of your roof.
